e-Aadhaar PDF Password & Unlock
The e-Aadhaar you download from UIDAI opens only with a password: the first four letters of your name as printed on your Aadhaar, in capital letters, followed by your year of birth. Type it below to save a copy that opens without one. The PDF never leaves your browser.
The password format
| Name on Aadhaar | Year of birth | Password |
|---|---|---|
| SURESH KUMAR | 1990 | SURE1990 |
| SAI KUMAR | 1990 | SAIK1990 — the space is skipped |
| P. KUMAR | 1990 | P.KU1990 — the dot counts as a letter |
| RIA | 1990 | RIA1990 — a name shorter than four letters is used whole |
Checked against the issuer's own pages on 9 October 2026.
The tool removes a password only when you type the correct one. It does not guess or crack passwords. The PDF and the password stay in your browser.
Before you unlock it
- Use your name exactly as it is printed on your Aadhaar, not as you usually write it, and type it in capital letters.
- e-Aadhaar carries UIDAI's digital signature. A copy saved without the password may show that signature as invalid, so keep the original download for anywhere that verifies it.
- UIDAI publishes no separate password rule for masked Aadhaar, which comes from the same download.
- A very old e-Aadhaar may still open with your PIN code: that was the rule on UIDAI's download page in 2016. Files downloaded now use the name and year of birth.
- An unlocked copy opens for anyone who has the file. Do not leave it in the Downloads folder of a shared or cyber café computer.
